There will be a meeting at Southend Primary School with Cllrs Morton, Hay and Colville where they probably hope to unveil their strategy for explaining why they voted to take all the schools to “consultation”. We’ll submit a report as a news item after the event.
I don’t think we need to know why they voted as they did – that’s pretty obvious. The theatre of Thursday is in the past – we need to know what the script is for the next bit.
What I’d like to know is what they will be doing differently to make sure that we have a proper process that’s open, honest and fair – especially as the process is now underway.
It would also be useful to get some info on how they plan to assess the consultation responses – what are the things they are paying lots of attention to and what are the things where lots of effort by us will bring little reward?
In the event Morton and Hay called off – the roads weren’t good – and Colville faced the crowd himself. Suffice it to say he didn’t have a good time and his explanations weren’t convincing.
